ICM15 Meeting in Miami, USA

The 15th Meeting of the “Interim Coordination Mechanism for the Sustainable Management, Use and Protection of shared Living Marine Resources in the Caribbean and North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystems” (in short, the CLME+ ICM) was held 20-21 August 2024 in Miami, Florida, United States of America. Facilitated by the GEF/UNDP PROCARIBE+ Project, the meeting contributed to advancing the activities and outputs in support of the regional Ocean Coordination Mechanism (OCM), which will soon be established upon achieving the remaining country signatures on the OCM Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Participating IGOs at the meeting agreed to the establishment of a number of ICM Working Groups and to initiate an independent review process for the 1st iteration of the CLME+ region’s Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) and Strategic Action Programme (SAP). Finally, approaches were discussed on establishing wider-ranging partnerships in support of enhanced ocean governance in the wider Caribbean as a means of guiding the way forward for the project, the OCM, and the CLME+ region.
